Working with Edustructures, PES is developing and implementing systems Inoperability Framework (SIF) technology into the UK education environment. SIF has been recommended by BECTA as the preferred data inoperability solution.
What is SIF?
- SIF is a set of data standards, developed to join up IT systems in the school supply chain
- SIF has been successfully implemented in the US schools and HE markets
- SIF ‘agents’ provide IT applications (typically MIS and Learning Management Systems) with the ability to ‘talk’ to each other without having to change the application code
- These agents use XML-based messages exchanged over the internet
- Orchestration and workflow management tools are used to manage real-time and near-real-time data transfer.
About Edustructures:
- The leading provider and implementer of SIF-based solutions in the world
- SIF deployed state-wide in Ohio, Virginia, South Carolina, Wyoming
- Customers in all 50 US states, Australia, Brazil, and now the UK
